CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Scheduled two days with Zach for my wife and myself. My wife is new to fly fishing and I only have experience with saltwater and bass. First day we targeted stocked streams while Zach taught my wife to cast. He also took time to teach us both about trout, feeding habits, techniques and flies. Zach's patience with my wife as she learned to cast was wonderful. She got frustrated with her casting but couldn't stop talking about how great Zach was. After a great streamside lunch she and Zach got serious about her first trout. They worked a pool for a long time. Zach giving feedback and encouragement the whole time. She finally set the hook on a beautiful rainbow that was the end to a great day. Next day we headed to chase wild native brook trout. Small streams, tight casts and more new techniques. My wife was casting like a champ and having a great time. It was a little early in the year for them but we hiked and worked the creek hard. Laughing and having a great time all day. As the sun got higher the little trout started to feed and I finally hooked a beautiful brookie. The colors on him were incredible. He was small but he thought he was a whale. I checked a box on my fishing bucket list and had a huge smile on my face. My wife is already planning a girls trip with Zach for herself and some of her friends. My son who is stationed on Okinawa will be home soon and we will be scheduling a trip with Zach for his first brook trout. Highest recommendation for Zach and Blue Ridge Fishing Adventures

ABOUT

Virginia offers truly world class angling opportunities.  Our cold water fisheries offer native Brook Trout in high mountain streams, wild Rainbow and Brown Trout in large tailwaters, and over 800 miles of stocked trout streams.  During the warmer months, Smallmouth Bass fishing is a major draw.  In addition to Smallies, anglers can expect to find Largemouth Bass, Rock Bass, Carp, Fall Fish, Catfish, and Sunfish in the same waters.

I grew up chasing trout in the notable rivers of Colorado.  The South Platte River is a gold medal trout water, where many of my skills were honed.  I have also fished the fresh waters of many regions of the U.S.  I moved to Virginia in 2019 and have been learning as many of the local rivers as possible throughout the past several years.  I also have private access to the Maury River, in Rockbridge County.

I took a backward path to fly fishing, actually starting by tying flies.  I have tied all the flies I fish since I was 10 years old.  Many of the patterns that you'll find in my fly boxes are originals that have proved themselves time and again.
